Supported Operating Systems for Microsoft Edge

Does Microsoft edge come as the default browser with the Server OS? If not is the possible to install the latest version of Edge browser on the Windows Server 2016 and Server 2019? I found many conflicting answers when i tried to find the OS support for edge browser. Microsoft returned to its roots with Windows 10, and with it added the successor to its now-defunct Internet Explorer browser: Microsoft Edge. It’s designed to replace Microsoft’s older browser. The Windows platform downloads apply to all supported client and server releases of Windows. Learn more about supported Windows releases. Microsoft Edge follows the Modern Lifecycle policy. Learn more about supported Microsoft Edge releases. To download the Microsoft Edge Dev preview channel for Linux, please visit Microsoft Edge Insider. It runs on the latest versions of Microsoft Edge (Windows 10, version 1709 or later) and Google Chrome browsers are tested and supported on Windows 10. It works out of the box in Windows Server 2019 however there are some Server versions that need additional preparation before they are ready to manage with Windows Admin Center. Feb 17, 2020 However with our deployment being multi server, if a user hits a different server on each logon Edge prompts the first time run every time. I realise that Edge Chromium has only been released with Server 2019 compatibility a short time ago but i wonder if anyone had tried to do the same as us and experienced/ solved the problem. Thanks in advance.

Important

** We will continue to support Microsoft Edge on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 until January 15, 2022. These operating systems are out of support and Microsoft recommends you move to a supported operating system such as Windows 10. While Microsoft Edge helps keep you more secure on the web, your PC may still be vulnerable to security risks. In order for IE mode to be supported on these operating systems the devices will need to have the Extended Security Updates for Windows 7. Without the Windows 7 Extended Security updates Internet Explorer functionality will be vulnerable to security risks. Additionally, IE mode functionality may cease to work without the continued servicing through the extended security updates.

*** In the same fashion as above, for Windows 10 SAC releases that are out of support but Microsoft Edge is supported it is recommended to upgrade to a supported Win10 SAC release as soon as possible to remain secure. Microsoft Edge being supported in this state should be considered a temporary bridge to getting to a supported OS state.

**** The Microsoft Edge OPK is available on MOO for IoT OEMs to preinstall and distribute as part of their Windows 10 IoT Enterprise based solution.
